Seeing Double

One of the bright spots in the school year, is the fun stuff we get to do with the kids. Twin Day is one of those. Here is my team (minus Kevin who we couldn't convince to join in!!)

We look a little silly, but we were imitating the kids. For some reason, the girls like to roll their jeans up to their knees then wear knee socks. OK...grown women can't really pull it off, but it was fun trying to.

Here's me with our new 6th grade science teachers. They are so much fun!

Here's some other 6th grade teachers who joined in the fun!

Movie Quotes

**Thanks to those of you that played along. All but 3 were guessed, so I went ahead and put up the answers.**

Thanks to the Ultimate Blog Party, I met Jill, a fellow blogger from Georgia! She has this really cool thing on her blog that I wanted to join in on!

Everyone loves movies and one thing we love from them are the great one liners! Let's have some fun with them.

Here are the rules:

1. Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess (if you know them all, please don't guess every one).
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. No Googling or IMDb-ing. That's cheating and that's no fun.

Here we go...

1. "In a good shoe, I wear a size six, but a seven feels so good, I buy a size eight." Steel Magnolias - Jill

2. "...I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I'm with you." Dirty Dancing Jen

3. "So now I'm just gonna kiss you for the millionth time and say 'Be seeing you'." THE HOLIDAY

4. "I love you Binky... but I don't have to like you right now." HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS

5. "Put... the bunny... back... in the box." Con-Air - Mandi

6. "He's my dog. I'll do it." OLD YELLER

7. "In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun, and - SNAP - the job's a game!" Mary Poppins - Amanda

8. "Hm. Teenagers. They think they know everything. You give them an inch, they swim all over you." The Little Mermaid - Amanda

9. "-Pullover!"
"-No, it's a cardigan but thanks for noticing." Dumb & Dumber - Josie

10. "Why don't you go back to your double-wide and fry something." Sweet Home Alabama - Jason

Thanks for playing!

Party On!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

I'm not a mom, but who can pass up a party?! So, I'm crashing the Ultimate Blog Party! I'm wanting to expand my readers to beyond the handful of people that read me.

My name is Staci and I'm a 31 one year old, single gal from GA who tries everyday to live a life that honors God. He has literally spoiled me with so many good things in my life. Instead of reading a novel about them all, I've compiled them below!

So welcome! Here's a little bit about me letter by letter:
(Warning: lots of links ahead!)

S - sister, sisterchick, silly, sentimental, shop-a-holic, swapper

T - teacher, tv watcher

A - aunt, alumni of North GA College & State University

C - christian, camp co-director...sort of, computer geek wannabe, college grad

I* - innkeeper (translation: I have a roommate), itinerant (translation: I like to travel), irregular (translation: random), infatuated with famous people (no translation needed!)
*I had to get some help from the thesaurus for this one!

Another thing about me is that I LOVE winning prizes. (Alright, so is there anyone who DOESN'T enjoy that?!) Here are some that I would put to good use:

#59 - $25 cash from A Cowboy's Wife.
#112 - $5 Starbucks card from Mocha With Linda
#130 - $5 Starbucks card from Days Like These!

Thanks for visiting and if you haven't joined the party, you've got till Friday :)

God Bless!

"24" + "Lost" = "Vantage Point"

Last night, I saw a really great movie! Don't worry...no spoilers here! I branched out from my traditional romantic comedy to see Vantage Point. One reason I wanted to see it is because of one of my new favorite shows, Lost! Matthew Fox is just scrumptious!! He plays a secret service agent and let me tell you...he looks go-od in a suit!

But, here's what's really good about the movie. It was a combination of 2 of my absolute favorite shows on tv (I guess you could probably tell that by the title of this post!) The basic premise is that the President of the United States gets shot and it's a "who dunnit" story. What's interesting is that the whole movie literally takes place in about 25-30 minutes, but they show it over and over from different key players' "vantage points".

24 fans: You'll love it because it's a taste of what we've been deprived of for so long (and will continue to be deprived of until January '09!). It's fast-paced, lets-protect-the-president, cool gadgets, think-you've-got-it-figured-out-but-you-really-dont, shaky camera, sit on the edge of your seat entertainment! I mean, if you need a 24 fix, this is the movie to see!!

Lost fans: You'll be hooked by all the different view points. It reminded me of how they go back and show you the character's back story on Lost. You see how they're all intertwined. Unfortunately, there weren't quite as many witty one liners as Sawyer provides for us.

Here's some eye candy to hold you over:

I HIGHLY recommend it. And when you see it...let me know what you think!!

Happy Birthday Matt!

Today is the one day soldiers hate: March "forth". My friend, Matt Willetts, used to say that about his birthday. He went home to be with the Lord over 10 years ago and I miss him terribly.

Happy Birthday, my friend!!

Peas and Carrots

Some things in life just go together: chips and salsa, chutes and ladders, black and white...and the Brown's and Thornton's!

We have been friends with the Thornton's for as long as I can remember. And when I say we've done everything together...it pretty much means everything! We have gone on summer vacations together for about 25 years. Most all of my childhood memories have the Thornton's in them.

Now that everyone is grown up, married and with kids, it's harder to all get together. This weekend, however, some of us were able to get together.

One of our long time family friends got married, so we all met for the wedding.

Mandi, Evan (who was still trying to wake up), and dad

Staci (she's the only one I know who spells her name like me), her mom, Dana, and my mom

Staci's son, Stephen. He really does have arms...promise!

Staci & Stephen

My sister, Mandi, mom, and Evan (slowly still trying to wake up)

Mandi and me (we really were standing up straight)

Of course, when Evan did decide to wake up, it was time for the wedding, so we occupied him by drawing with the little pencils and tithing envelopes!

Some shots of the wedding.

Me, the bride, Candace and her sister Jenn. I have known Jenn and Candace since they were babies.

After the wedding, we went out to eat at the ole Cracker Barrell. Stephen and Evan really entertained us!!

They were hilarious! They copied each other and would just crack up laughing!

The boys' moms, Staci and Mandi, just enjoyed having the grandparents there to help!

It was a very fun night!!

Check her out

After months of stalking me on my blog, one of my teacher friends, Josie, decided to start her own blog! She team taught with me last year and I miss her terribly this year. She got moved up to 7th grade. Go visit her and read about the adventures she has with her boyfriend!

By the way, remember the "interesting" Valentine's Day gift I got last week? Look what was left in my box at work:

I could tell by the writing it was Josie :)

What do ya think?!

I've been wanting to find a new lipstick and we all know what an ordeal that can be. Can I get an amen, girls?! I've been noticing that a lot of girls are into the nude lip look and I really like it. So, after lots of scrubbing my lips raw, I walked away with these...

What do ya think?

My Second Home

My new bloggy friend, Jessica is a 5th grade teacher and posted a really neat post about her "second home"...her classroom. Being a teacher myself, it was so neat to see someone else's classroom. I loved it! So, I thought I would do the same. I know you're just dying to see it...but just indulge me :)

My vantage point in the class.

The kids' view point.

I am the only teacher in the school to have a flat screen!! I happened to be in the right place at the right time. They were looking for a teacher to test it out and see how it holds up in the classroom. Being a science teacher, we show a lot of videos, so I was SO excited! Of course, when the kids walked in and saw it, they went nuts!! They thought it was so cool! I gave them the 3rd degree and told them that if there was even a fingerprint on it, "they" were going to take it out of the room and I would get the old TV back. They've done pretty good with it so far.

Thanks for visiting!

Mac and Me

My friend Amanda had a contest to post pictures of yourself with your computer. So, the contest is over, but I still wanted to post my pic!!

Melted

I was surprised at how many kids brought me Valentine Day treats today. It was all candy (except for the girl who got me cotton candy body spray) but still I was a little taken back.

But this, by far tops them all! One little girl got me these:

Praline filled chocolate hearts. They sounded really good and I was anxious to try one...

...until I opened the box:

Really?!

Valentine's Day

So, what did you do for Valentine's Day? I had a date! I was looking forward to this all day! I can't tell you the last time I had a date on Valentine's Day. Oh...wait...yes, I remember. It was in college and he took me to Shoney's. The kicker was that he had a girlfriend back home. That's a whole other story!!

Back to the date!

I hung out with Evan! I decided to take him to this new doughnut shop that opened up around the corner from my house. When we pulled up, it was closed! Bummer!! Of course that didn't sit well with Evan:

Me: Evan, the doughnut place is closed. Do you want a hamburger?
Evan: I want doughnut.
Me: But they're closed buddy. Wanna hamburger or chicken nuggets?
Evan: I want doughnut.

And that conversation went on like that for another 10 minutes. So, my quick thinking skills pulled into an Ingles and bought a doughnut. Then it was off to McDonald's for a "healthy" dinner.

We got home and enjoyed a nice dinner.

(He lives in the cowboy hat!)

Then it was doughnut time!

After destroying the doughnut, it was play time.

(He loves my exercise ball!)

Then we had arts & crafts! We colored pictures and made a handprint frame for mommy and daddy.

We watched a little "Lion King" and then it was time to go back home. He was so anxious to give the stuff to his mommy and daddy.

It was a great date :)

Ladies Night Out

Last night was so fun! And there wasn't a TV around! It was Ladies Night at the Melting Pot. So, us Sisterchicks took advantage of it! We had some yummy food...

...and more importantly, good times with friends!

I love these girls! We had a fabulous time!!
