Peas and Carrots

Some things in life just go together: chips and salsa, chutes and ladders, black and white...and the Brown's and Thornton's!

We have been friends with the Thornton's for as long as I can remember. And when I say we've done everything together...it pretty much means everything! We have gone on summer vacations together for about 25 years. Most all of my childhood memories have the Thornton's in them.

Now that everyone is grown up, married and with kids, it's harder to all get together. This weekend, however, some of us were able to get together.

One of our long time family friends got married, so we all met for the wedding.

Mandi, Evan (who was still trying to wake up), and dad

Staci (she's the only one I know who spells her name like me), her mom, Dana, and my mom

Staci's son, Stephen. He really does have arms...promise!

Staci & Stephen

My sister, Mandi, mom, and Evan (slowly still trying to wake up)

Mandi and me (we really were standing up straight)

Of course, when Evan did decide to wake up, it was time for the wedding, so we occupied him by drawing with the little pencils and tithing envelopes!

Some shots of the wedding.

Me, the bride, Candace and her sister Jenn. I have known Jenn and Candace since they were babies.

After the wedding, we went out to eat at the ole Cracker Barrell. Stephen and Evan really entertained us!!

They were hilarious! They copied each other and would just crack up laughing!

The boys' moms, Staci and Mandi, just enjoyed having the grandparents there to help!

It was a very fun night!!

Check her out

After months of stalking me on my blog, one of my teacher friends, Josie, decided to start her own blog! She team taught with me last year and I miss her terribly this year. She got moved up to 7th grade. Go visit her and read about the adventures she has with her boyfriend!

By the way, remember the "interesting" Valentine's Day gift I got last week? Look what was left in my box at work:

I could tell by the writing it was Josie :)

What do ya think?!

I've been wanting to find a new lipstick and we all know what an ordeal that can be. Can I get an amen, girls?! I've been noticing that a lot of girls are into the nude lip look and I really like it. So, after lots of scrubbing my lips raw, I walked away with these...

What do ya think?

My Second Home

My new bloggy friend, Jessica is a 5th grade teacher and posted a really neat post about her "second home"...her classroom. Being a teacher myself, it was so neat to see someone else's classroom. I loved it! So, I thought I would do the same. I know you're just dying to see it...but just indulge me :)

My vantage point in the class.

The kids' view point.

I am the only teacher in the school to have a flat screen!! I happened to be in the right place at the right time. They were looking for a teacher to test it out and see how it holds up in the classroom. Being a science teacher, we show a lot of videos, so I was SO excited! Of course, when the kids walked in and saw it, they went nuts!! They thought it was so cool! I gave them the 3rd degree and told them that if there was even a fingerprint on it, "they" were going to take it out of the room and I would get the old TV back. They've done pretty good with it so far.

Thanks for visiting!

My friend Amanda had a contest to post pictures of yourself with your computer. So, the contest is over, but I still wanted to post my pic!!

Melted

I was surprised at how many kids brought me Valentine Day treats today. It was all candy (except for the girl who got me cotton candy body spray) but still I was a little taken back.

But this, by far tops them all! One little girl got me these:

Praline filled chocolate hearts. They sounded really good and I was anxious to try one...

...until I opened the box:

Really?!

Valentine's Day

So, what did you do for Valentine's Day? I had a date! I was looking forward to this all day! I can't tell you the last time I had a date on Valentine's Day. Oh...wait...yes, I remember. It was in college and he took me to Shoney's. The kicker was that he had a girlfriend back home. That's a whole other story!!

Back to the date!

I hung out with Evan! I decided to take him to this new doughnut shop that opened up around the corner from my house. When we pulled up, it was closed! Bummer!! Of course that didn't sit well with Evan:

Me: Evan, the doughnut place is closed. Do you want a hamburger?
Evan: I want doughnut.
Me: But they're closed buddy. Wanna hamburger or chicken nuggets?
Evan: I want doughnut.

And that conversation went on like that for another 10 minutes. So, my quick thinking skills pulled into an Ingles and bought a doughnut. Then it was off to McDonald's for a "healthy" dinner.

We got home and enjoyed a nice dinner.

(He lives in the cowboy hat!)

Then it was doughnut time!

After destroying the doughnut, it was play time.

(He loves my exercise ball!)

Then we had arts & crafts! We colored pictures and made a handprint frame for mommy and daddy.

We watched a little "Lion King" and then it was time to go back home. He was so anxious to give the stuff to his mommy and daddy.

It was a great date :)

Ladies Night Out

Last night was so fun! And there wasn't a TV around! It was Ladies Night at the Melting Pot. So, us Sisterchicks took advantage of it! We had some yummy food...

...and more importantly, good times with friends!

I love these girls! We had a fabulous time!!
