Bumblebee Birthday!

Today we celebrated my niece, Megan's, first birthday. Her mom went all out with a bumblebee themed party.

The cake table

Megan's smash cake

The cake for the rest of the family

Food table

Tables
(The centerpieces were 1 year old framed pictures of the birthday girl that the guests got to take home)

Goodie bag table
(This was a candy buffet where guests got to fill their goodie bag with treats!)

Marshmallows
(One of the treats were these cute marshmallows. All you do is lightly coat the edges of a marshmallow with water using a brush. Then roll them in sugar sprinkles)

We also played Bingo. A Megan version of Bingo! It was so cute! All the squares were things that had to do with Megan: the hospital she was born at, all her cousins, aunts, uncles, etc., height, weight, trips she'd been on, etc.

I won a round! My prize was a bottle of honey...to with the bee theme, of course!

While Megan opened her gifts, Mandi had "The Bee Movie" on upstairs if kids didn't want to hang around for it.

Everything was so cute and color coordinated and even some of the guests wore yellow & black.

Here's some pics from the rest of the day:

Happy Birth-a-sary!

Today's a big day in our family.

Today is my niece's Megan's first birthday!

We're celebrating her birthday on Sunday. More cute pics to come!

And, as if on cue, she was born on her parent's anniversary. And this year they celebrate 10 years of marriage!

Happy Birthday and Anniversary!
Love you all!

Top Ten Tuesday

Photobucket

Top ten websites I visit most often:

1. Facebook

To say that I'm obsessed is a bit of an understatement. For some of my friends, it is the only way I keep up with them. Other than that, I just stalk!

2. Twitter

I've just gotten into twittering and am still trying to figure it out.

3. Sisterchicks blogs.
We don't get together as much as we would like to because we're all spread out, so this is the next best way to keep up with them.

4.Kelly's Korner
Another obsession of mine. I just love her!

5. Bakerella

She's just a normal woman who happens to be an incredible baker and has even been on Martha Stewart! She is my go-to for all things baking or cake decorating!

6. Etsy

Such cute stuff! Just go look around and you'll become addicted.

7. My Schoolnotes site
Now that school's back in, I'm on this practically everyday to update homework and assignments.

8. Tastespotting

If you like recipes, this is the site for you! But what I like most about it is that it has pictures. I need a visual if I'm going to make something.

9. Biblegateway

I use this one a good bit when I need to find a verse about a specific topic. It's great.

10. Square Peg

Last, but certainly not least, a shameless plug for a wonderful ministry! Please pray for us that God would continue to pour his favor and provision on us!!

July's NEW

I'm continuing on my journey to fulfill my new year's resolution of trying/doing something new each month...even if this is a week or so late. Woops!

This month, I did a few new things. The first thing I did was actually something I DIDN'T do. Confused yet? Ha! I did not use a credit card once this month! That is huge for me!! Because of the budget I've put myself on, I am no longer using my credit card. It has been a very eye opening month because of that. I didn't realize how much I had actually used it, but what makes me even more sick is how much of my paycheck goes to paying down stupid credit cards!! [UPDATE: Unfortunately, this is not true for August. Starting back to school really adds up!]

Another new thing I did was try a new cake store: CakeArt Party Store. I first heard of this store from Bakerella. The store is amazing! So, Mandi, mom and I made a day of it. With both of her kids' birthdays coming up in the same month, I'm in cake mode...and this store was pure heaven!

And the last new thing was from the mission trip that I went on earlier in the month. One of the things we did was take a prayer walk around an asian market. While we were there, we went into the asian supermarket to look around. Let's just say there were some interesting things there! So, I decided to buy a few things to try for my new year's resolution!

I went with some pretty tame items. The first one is a mandarin orange drink:

I love mandarin oranges, so why wouldn't I like a drink that tastes like them? Not good! Yuk!
Then there were these:

(SO good, by the way)

And then finally, there was this drink:

A lot of the other kids on the trip bought one and drank it right away. I wanted to save mine so I could get the proper pictures to write a blog post about it. Well, I kind of forgot about it until now. The problem is I couldn't work it! Yes, there was actually a technique to drink this! It's a carbonated drink, but the carbonation is in a little ball in the lid. I don't know if I waited too long or what, but I just couldn't get it open. I tried, and tried, but it wasn't coming. So, I never actually got to try it :( I ended up throwing it away!
