If you have a sweet tooth like me, then this is the recipe for you. Not only is it quick, but you probably already have the ingredients in your kitchen. I got this in an email from my dad, so I don't really know the source. I tried it when I was snowed in last week and it was surprisingly good. It would've been better with a couple scoops of ice cream!
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (Micro Safe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (This can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
I don't really know why it's called a "5 Minute Cake" because as you can see in the directions, it says to cook it for 3 minutes. Weird. I cooked it for 3 and it was enough. Granted it's no culinary masterpiece, but it will satisfy your sweet tooth!

Oh my word. That's fabulous! Fabulous I say!
I've seen this before. SO wonderful!!! :)
2 minutes to fix, 3 minutes to cook :).
I have a similar recipe for a mug brownie- just a few less ingredients but similar concept. It's an excellent pick-me-up!
Only 5 minutes? Now this is my kind of cake:)
Blessings,
Linda
I've seen this before too, but never tried it...yummm!!!
I love the 5 minute cake! I had a similar recipe, but I found that if you substitute applesauce for the oil, it has a much better texture, and less fat! Thanks for sharing!
