A Day at the Lake

I got to spend the weekend with some very good friends, the Thorntons! Practically my extended family, I have known them for 27 years. We have taken family vacations with them for over 20 years. Recently, it's been harder and harder to get together for vacations because of everyone growing up, getting married, having kids and just life in general.

This weekend, however, we were able to sneak away for a weekend to Lance & Staci's lake house on Lake Hartwell. We had so much fun! They have a 2 year old, Stephen, who was a perfect playmate for my 2 year old nephew, Evan.

They were inseperable. What one did, the other copied! We laughed at them the whole weekend!

Then it was time to hit the water! The boys loved jumping off the dock and swimming in the cove.

Yeah, it kinda looks like they're swimming in a ses pool, but it had just rained so the water was a little stirred up!

Then it was time to take the boat out! We drove around and anchored the boat and all jumped out and just swam in the lake.

We had a good dinner that night then all the adults sat around talking about the days of yore! We talked about everything from Obama's "refusal" to pledge the flag to the family at church who used to have to bolt their furniture to the wall because of their hyper kids. It was so good to laugh. But the highlight of the night came at about 11:45 pm when we (or I guess I should say I )decided to prank call an old youth pastor.

The next morning was Sunday and it's always been a tradition on our vacations to "go" to church on Sundays. "Going" to church consists of finding what church is on TV at that time. This time it was none other than Mt. Paran North COG. We watched it live via video streaming.

While the adults were watching church, the little ones were in the nursery :)

Looks like Mandi had nursery duty today!

After church we took the boat back out for some tubing. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of that because I was doing the tubing! We ended the day just lounging around on the dock.

Then it was time to head home. Evan was entertained by Curious George.

We had a great time and can't wait to do it again soon!!

I am so glad you were able to come enjoy some time at the lake. It was fun reminiscing (I think that is how you spell it) about old times. I look forward to having you back when there is more water in the lake.

I love that pic of you with the lake behind you- that totally needs to be your profile pic! :) It looks like you had a great time- I can't wait to hear about your prank call...to who? Scott? Chuck? I can't let the Obama one go, since you know, he's my main man. LOL I hope you guys seriously don't believe he refuses to pledge to the flag! Check it out on snopes. He's American and Christian! Don't let the emails fool you.
