Saturday Stumbles

I hope you enjoy a nice Easter weekend. Here are a few links to enjoy:

Alternative Easter Egg hunts
A few years ago I became the resident Easter egg hunt planner for my nieces and nephews. Knowing that they would get tons of candy, I wanted to do something where candy wasn't involved but just as fun!

Oh the lovely deliciousness of these cuties are too much!

A very vintagey cute way to organize my mess of necklaces.

So, it's a short list today, but what have you stumbled? Check out the guidelines, then link up below:

Alternative Easter Egg Hunt

Easter was a great time with my family. One of our most recent traditions has been my alternative easter egg hunts. Instead of hunting for candy, the hunts are some sort of activity.

The first one I did was a Puzzle Hunt.

The next one was a Lego Hunt.

This year, was a craft hunt. For the boys, I used this car kit.

And no I did not hide the cars in eggs! What I did was take all the accessories for the cars which were mostly sticker decals. I cut them up and put those in eggs. The kit came with 3 cars so that's what my 3 nephews did. It worked out great.

For my niece, she got a shrinky dink jewelry kit similar to this one:

For this one, I cut up some of the shinky dinks and put them in the eggs along with beads, and the accessories like chains and magnets.

Once the kids found all their eggs, then they all went to the table to open them all. The fun part is that I don't tell them what the activity is beforehand. So here they are opening these eggs with random, weird stickers. Some of them guessed, but then I showed them the box of what they would be doing. And we all got busy crafting!

Easter Egg Hunt Variations

Do you have any Easter traditions? We didn't until all the grandkids came on the scene. Funny how they really weren't into just sitting around talking.

So I took the most common Easter tradition, the egg hunt, and tweaked it. Because I knew the kids would be getting all kinds of candy from school, church and not to mention their grandparents I steered away from making the kids hunt for candy.

I turned the egg hunt into an activity. The first year, I did a Puzzle hunt

Then last year, I did a Lego hunt

This year has yet another activity that I will not reveal now! You'll find out after this weekend!!

Easter

What a beautiful day it was to celebrate Jesus' resurrection! And because of that, we're able to celebrate good times with family.

Today was one of those days.

After a great church service, we all met and mom and dad's for lunch. Good eats.

Then it was time for some easter fun with the kids. After they successfully tore into their easter baskets, it was time for our egg hunt. This is no ordinary egg hunt mind you! Knowing that the kids would get tons of candy and sugar from their parents and other grandparents, I've decided to make the traditional egg hunt not so traditional. In fact, my egg hunts have even landed me here!

The eggs are filled with trinkets that go with an activity to do after the egg hunt. Last year, the eggs had puzzle pieces inside.

This year, I went with Leggo's. Each kids was assigned their own color eggs to hunt.

Once all the eggs were found, it was time to go back inside to open them and begin the fun!
Brooke & Blake got leggo (ok, so they were generic brand!) kits:

Evan got a younger kid's version of leggos using Cookie Monster:

Bo got a Mr. Potato head. I figured it was kinda like leggos...he still had to put pieces together.

The older kids seemed to enjoy their leggos. Evan wasn't too keen on the Cookie Monster. All he really wanted was the horse out of Brooke's kit! (Uh, can you tell he's in a horse phase? Notice the hat and boots in every picture!)

Here are some other random shots from the day:

After all the festivities, Evan and his dad were off to the rodeo:

Hope you had a happy easter!
